Reactivity / Aggression

Reactivity and Aggression are typically learned behaviors that can be unlearned!

Let's break down the difference between reactivity and aggression and see how they're related. Reactivity covers a wide range of behaviors, from things like separation anxiety to barking and lunging at other dogs, all the way to just being overly excited and stimulated. When a dog starts physically biting with the intention to harm, that's when reactivity turns into aggression. But keep in mind, this isn't the same as play biting or correction biting.

The good news is that most of the time, these behaviors are learned responses to stuff happening around them. And that means we can work on replicating those situations while teaching them a better way to react.
